tl;dr version
NG-Medals.com, how improve?
---
Alright, here is another news post about about my site NG-Medals.com :P
First off: NG switched things around in the HTML source code for medals recently (which I run through a script instead of manually adding everything), so until I had some time to modify my tools for these changes I was a bit behind on adding medal games. It is however fixed now, and better than ever.. Although no one but me will ever know I suppose ;)
Anyhow, moving on, this is some exciting stuff so hang in there :)
I know it seems like nothing is happening with the site, and that is due to the simple fact that there really isn't (except for keeping the database up to date). I have however been working a little on and off on a small redesign, and I'm aiming for a layout much like the one you can see here. Now, I'm mainly doing this site because I think it's fun, but also at least as much for the community (that means you!), so what are your thoughts on this? Is there some feature that you are dieing for the new version of the site to have?
I can't promise that you will see a finished redesign anytime soon, updating my script tools gave me some motivation so hopefully it wont take very long, but no matter when this happens I will make sure to go back to this post for feedback so it's in no way a waste of time to comment!
Some things I already have in mind (I will update this with your suggestions!):
- Possibility to hide already acquired medals (I'm having a couple of different ideas on how to solve this, hopefully it will be more or less automatic)
- User contributed tips for each medal in a more sophisticated way than comments (but the comment feature will remain)
-Completely automatized game updates (probably hourly), which makes it possible to send out emails to subscribers when a new game is added
- NG graphics (confirmed)
- Rating system for the medals' difficulty
